Now then, with that being said, the movie is really a criticism of humanity. I mean the movie might as well have been a join production between Al Gore and Greenpeace. Lets look at it: humans leave Earth because it’s overloaded with trash. Wall-E units are deployed to clean it up, but they cannot handle the work and break down and malfunction. Meanwhile humans have gotten so fat and lazy on the spaceship where robots take care of all of their needs that they are 100% unaware of their surroundings until Wall-E fumbles and bumbles his way around and disrupts the humans “perfect” lives.

Ah yes, another chick flick. However, I was willing to go to this one, it looked somewhat humerous. What can I say? I’m a sucker for crap. Anyway girls, this isn’t that great of a chick flick. Fellas, this isn’t that much of a chick flick. The movie suffered strongly from the urge to be a chick flick, think How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days meets Pirates of the Caribbean, but overall it fails at both. Instead you get a movie that isn’t a great mystery, isn’t a great chick flick, but is an average movie.

The mystery is not very mysterious and it’s a little weird that the antagonist is played by the same midget black guy from Scary Movie 3 and 4, but it is saved by McConaughey’s wit and charm. Almost everything he does in this movie is either funny or jackass, but oddly enough it works for him. He’s like a cheap version of Depp. Regardless, this movie isn’t really worth seeing.

This movie was really fun to watch. There isn’t really much to say about it because it is hard to compare it to any other movie. It’s about a guy with the power to warp around who becomes hunted by some religious nut-jobs who threaten to kill him and his family. I didn’t even realize the main character is played by Anakin Skywalker until the very end of the movie, I’d say that’s its only weakness.

The movie does a good job of keeping you entertained without any strong disappointment. Just when you think its winding down and becoming boring they introduce a new character who spices up the action very nicely ontop of also being the wittiest comic relief that I have noticed in a long time. The movie seems to kinda rush at the end, but I think this is done to keep it from becoming repetitive and predictable.

There are not enough action sequences, but when they do occur they are refreshingly new. The movie includes minor twists and turns but nothing mind wrenching, they are surprisingly for the simple reason that it is introduced at seemingly inopportune times when one does not expect to hear about plot. This works for the movies advantage, however. It is easy to get lost in the, “he can warp everywhere and thus is awesome,” mentality. It is somewhat refreshing to see limitation, whether physically or emotionally, placed on the character.

The title is dumb, but whatever, apparently it’s the Caribbean Canadian culture and the language of Patois. That’s fine, I am not one who would ever not watch a movie based on a silly title. I don’t really have any complaints in the movie. I was twenty minutes late to the movie but I feel like all I missed was plot which is not really the reason people go to see this movie.

So apparently some chick dies of an drug OD. This causes her younger sister to go back to the hood and start stepping so she can make money. She dick’s over some other girls who were her friends. Then she dicks over some guy (who looks like a young Lawrence Fishbourne) and then she dicks over some other pimp looking guy who I think was her sister boyfriend. She goes back to her lover boy, who she dicked over, and they win the champion ship and hugs and kisses.

The movie was not bad by any stretch of the imagination. The stepping was pretty badass and everyone loves the token white boy in the movie. He was, by far, my favorite character in the movie. Heres the catch though. If you have seen; Stomp the Yard, Drumline, Step Up, Save the Last Dance, or even Take the Lead, then you already know what will happen. Its a bit too predictable, but in its credit it had its differences. This was, to the best of my knowledge, the first “black girl goes back to the ghetto to make money” type of movie. So that was pretty refreshing.

If you feel like listening to some good music and being amazed at someone doing what you can never do yourself, this is a great movie.

I think this is a kind of love it or hate it movie.  Personally, I really liked it.  Unfortunately there were some things that ruined it for me.  The fact that I hate roller coasters compounded by the fact that I was forced to sit in the third row almost ruined my enjoyment.  I don’t care how good a movie is, throwing up on yourself and your girlfriend will put a damper on the good times for anybody.  With that being said the movie was not bad.  This is the second movie I have seen using the “actors are the cameramen” methodology.  The first was of course The Blaire Witch Project.  While I didn’t hate that either, it compares to this like gas station shrimp compares to five star lobster.  Onward to the actual review.

There was a lot of hype for this movie.  Everything from the teaser trailer to the teaser previews (neither gave much information) all the way to the fake myspace pages of the main characters; http://www.myspace.com/robbyhawkins or http://www.myspace.com/hudsonplatt.   Please note the last login and the height of Hud.  I guess that confirms the theory that he was bit in half by the monster.  I think the movie was very well done.  I mean the people in it have a lot closer relationships with their friends then me.  If my friend decided to run back into the ruined city closer to the monster just to save some chick who was almost dead, I don’t know if I would follow him.

Don’t even ask me why I went to go see this chick flick, but whatever, I did and now here I am and here we are. This movie wasn’t bad as far as chick flicks go. It ain’t no ’27 Dresses’. It had its funny moments and the concept was cute and clever and just oh-so.. womanly. Of course the ending is predictable a mile away regardless of age, gender, or mental capacity. I won’t spoil it but lets just say it screams DUH at you. The only character I really liked was Ted Danson’s character. That guy has a really long face and is just generally really funny. If anything, they should have just made a Becker movie.

Yes it sucked. But goddam, I could have spent 80 minutes a lot worse. Everyone keeps giving this movie crap, like they were shocked and amazed that it was a low budget, horribly punned, one big gay joke. Honsetly? Really? You could not tell from the name, previews, cast (Carmen Electra and Method Man) and the general nature of spoofs that this movie was going to suck? If you read the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes every critic is like, “oh my GOD they will never get an Oscar with that kind of humor.” If you want a movie where you will laugh a little, cry a little, and go home feelings satisfied then go watch ‘The Bucket List’. If you got time to kill, ten dollars, and a big enough jacket to sneak some liquor into the theater then go see Meet the Spartans. I have absolutely no regrets watching this movie. I would highly recommend watching this movie with a mostly black audience, it adds to the hilarity. At least it did for me.
